Join the Mid-Missouri Council of the Navy League of the United States as we proudly celebrate the **251st Birthday of the United States Navy** on **Tuesday, October 13, 2026**, at **American Legion Post 5, 1423 Tanner Bridge Road, Jefferson City, Missouri**. **EVENT SCHEDULE** **5:30 PM — Doors Open / Social Gathering** **6:30 PM — Traditional Navy Birthday Cake-Cutting Ceremony** **Guest Speaker to Follow** The Navy Birthday Celebration is an opportunity for Navy veterans, active-duty and Reserve personnel, retirees, military families, Navy League members, U.S. Naval Sea Cadets, veterans organizations, community leaders, local businesses, and friends of America’s sea services to come together in fellowship and celebrate 251 years of Navy history, heritage, tradition, and service to our nation. The United States Navy traces its origins to October 13, 1775, when the Continental Congress authorized the acquisition and outfitting of armed vessels during the American Revolution. For more than two and a half centuries, generations of American Sailors have served our nation around the world. The evening will include one of the Navy’s most treasured birthday traditions—the **Navy Birthday Cake-Cutting Ceremony**. The ceremony symbolizes the connection between generations of Sailors and reminds us that today’s Navy carries forward the heritage and traditions established by those who served before us. After the ceremony, we will welcome our guest speaker and continue an evening dedicated to fellowship, Navy heritage, and recognizing those who have served. **EVERYONE IS WELCOME** You do not have to be a Navy veteran or Navy League member to attend. We encourage veterans to bring their spouses, families, friends, and fellow service members. We also welcome members of all military branches, community organizations, businesses, educators, students, and anyone interested in supporting America’s sea services. The Mid-Missouri Council is working to strengthen and grow the Navy League’s presence throughout our community. Our priorities include increasing membership, improving community awareness, supporting the **Jefferson Division of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps**, expanding fundraising opportunities, developing partnerships with local businesses and organizations, and providing meaningful activities for our members.
