This month we will be discussing Camp Sylvania by Julie Murphy, so we encourage you to finish the book before the meeting. Magnolia "Maggie" Hagen is excited to finally be attending the famous and elite performing arts camp, Camp Rising Star. She's set to go with her best friend and work getting over her stage fright so she can become a famous actress. Only her parents ruin her plans by informing her on the last day of school that she is actually going to a fat camp. Specifically, Maggie is going to Camp Sylvania, the fat camp run by world-famous wellness influencer Sylvia Sylvania. When she arrives at camp, Maggie starts to notice how weird things are. The weigh-ins are humiliating, and there are exhausting workouts, but Maggie expected those. What she didn't expect was the campers donating blood, and that the cafeteria serving Sylvia's patented Scarlet Diet. As well, the camp's oddly specific rules keep changing. Just as Maggie starts to settle into camp and make friends, campers begin to go missing.
